EJU Seminar Puts Event Organisers in Conversation

The EJU seminar brought national federations and competition organisers together to discuss the practical work behind European Judo events. With more than 100 events on the EJU calendar each year, shared standards and up-to-date information are central to keeping the circuit running smoothly.

The meeting was not only about presentations and updates. It also gave organisers a space to compare their experience, address recurring challenges and hear how colleagues in other countries approach the same tasks.

Julija Lescinska, General Secretary of the Latvian Judo Federation, highlighted the value of that direct exchange. Latvia stages many events each year, while competition rules, organisational requirements and working methods continue to evolve.

For federations that regularly host tournaments, knowing the local details is important, but it is not always enough. Another organiser may offer a practical answer to a familiar issue or draw attention to something that has not yet been considered.

Sharing solutions can make a demanding event calendar stronger.

Lescinska said the seminar covered useful information that can be applied in practice. She also stressed that regular meetings of this kind matter, giving organisers a chance to stay connected as European Judo events continue to develop.

The strength of a competition is often most visible on the tatami, but much of its success is built well before the first contest begins. For the EJU calendar, collaboration between national federations remains an important part of delivering consistent events across Europe.
